HC Deb 15 June 1954 vol 528 cc1741-2
57. Mr. N. Nicolson

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government under what circumstances it is his practice to appoint a committee of inquiry to hear local objections to the detailed implementation of a development plan to which he has already given his general approval.

Mr. Marples

The detailed implementation of an approved development plan is a matter for the local planning authority. My right hon. Friend cannot envisage any circumstances in which he would appoint a committee of inquiry as suggested by my hon. Friend.

Mr. Nicolson

Would my hon. Friend not agree that the detail of these development plans become known to the small owners of land or property only at the moment when they are implemented? Would it not be fairer to give them a chance to make their protests when the plans come to be implemented?

Mr. Marples

Any person can make a protest about any development plan be-for it is approved. If my hon. Friend has any particular case that he thinks has not been dealt with justly and will write to me about it, I will consider it carefully.
