asked the Minister of Agriculture if he will now make a statement on Crichel Down and publish a White Paper.

Sir Andrew Clark's Report will be published as a White Paper on Tuesday, 15th June, and I will make a short statement on the same day.

I am authorised by my right hon. Friend, the Lord Privy Seal, to say that he hopes it will be possible to arrange, through the usual channels, for a debate at the earliest convenient opportunity afterwards.

In view of the fact that my right hon. Friend told us last week that it would be published before Whit-sun, may I ask him why it has now been held up? What is the mystery about its issue?

I expressed a hope, and it has not been possible to fulfil that hope. I have now given the definite date, and this has been the first time that I could do so.
