HC Deb 03 June 1954 vol 528 cc1437-8
22. Mr. Harold Davies

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will report on the progress which has been made in negotiating a new trade agreement with Poland.

Mr. Amory

The negotiations are still in progress, and I am not yet in a position to make a statement.

Mr. Davies

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that most hon. Members desire to see an expansion of all legitimate trade? Will he see, as these negotiations come towards completion, that we too, as well as the Dutch, will be able to export mining machinery and oil-boring machinery to Poland?

Mr. Amory

I will take note of what the hon. Gentleman says. He will no doubt bear in mind the strategic controls.
