HC Deb 01 June 1954 vol 528 cc1081-2
52. Mr. Roy Jenkins

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will make a statement about his official talks with the President of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Mr. Maudling

My right hon. Friend's talks with Mr. Black were informal, they discussed all outstanding matters which were of interest to the U.K. Government and the I.B.R.D.

Mr. Jenkins

Was the question of making the sterling subscription available for loans outside the sterling area discussed, and what is the view of H.M. Government on it?

Mr. Maudling

That is one of the things that was discussed, but H.M. Government have not expressed any view on the matter yet.
