§ Mr. Joynson-HicksI beg to move, in page 27, line 8, to leave out from "prevent" to "and," in line 10, and to insert:
the occurrence of accidents due to vehicle, so used running away.This Amendment is identical with the Amendment in page 62, line 38. The effect of them is to provide for the maintenance and use of safety devices to prevent vehicles from running away, and to define, rather better than in the Bill, the way in which it should be done. The safety device which is normally in use 1573 does not, strictly speaking, prevent a runaway but brings the runaway to rest in the quickest possible time. The Amendments describe the purposes of the safety devices rather better than they are described at present in the Bill. The second Amendment is exactly the same, only it applies to quarries.
