§ 3. Sir I. Fraserasked the Minister of Works the value of factory building authorised in 1953; and what was the value of work completed.
§ Sir D. EcclesThe value of factory building licensed in 1953 was £170,072,000. I am unable to give the contract value of factory buildings completed during the year. The amount of 1578 work done during the year is estimated, on the basis of the figures for the first 11 months, at £111 million.
§ Sir I. FraserDoes the value of the work accomplished compare favourably with the amount of work held up or refused? Can it be said that industry generally has got more or less what it wants?
§ Sir D. EcclesLicences for factories are not now being held up. The manufacturer has, of course, to go to the Board of Trade and clear the distribution of industry procedure.
