HC Deb 24 February 1954 vol 524 c400
50. Mr. Erroll

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies for what reasons an allowance of £200 is granted to the Chief Clerk and Establishments Officer of the General Department of the Crown Agents for the Colonies.

Mr. Lyttelton

The head of General Department, in addition to his normal duties of running that Department, is responsible for advising the Crown Agents on matters of general office policy and practice. The allowance is paid in recognition of these special responsibilities.
