HC Deb 18 February 1954 vol 523 c2148
41. Mr. Peyton

asked the Minister ofAgriculture when he expects to receive the report of the Gowers Committee on foot-and-mouth disease.

Sir T. Dugdale

By May or June.

Mr. Peyton

Is my right hon. Friend aware of the anxiety and interest and even impatience with which the conclusions of this Committee are awaited, particularly with regard to the use of vaccines? Will he represent to the Committee that they should expedite their report?

Sir T. Dugdale

The Committee are proceeding as fast as they can. They are a very high-powered Committee and they will have a great deal of influence on the future of the livestock industry in this country. I am perfectly satisfied that they are getting on as quickly as possible.
