HC Deb 17 February 1954 vol 523 c1951
3. Mr. J. Hynd

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether his attention has been drawn to the questions required to be answered by West German nationals wishing to obtain visas for visiting the United Kingdom; and why all of these questions are still necessary.

Mr. Dodds-Parker

I assume the hon. Member is referring to the questionnaire which is sent to Germans wishing to apply for a visa by letter. The questionnaire is now being revised so as to eliminate all but essential questions.

Mr. Hynd

Since visas for British people visiting Germany have been completely abolished, is the Minister aware that this change in the questionnaire will be appreciated? Can he give any information about when the new questionnaire is likely to be available?

Mr. Dodds-Parker

We hope it will be completed very shortly.

Mr. Dugdale

Are these questions any more tiresome than those directed to British subjects desiring to enter the United States of America?
