HC Deb 09 February 1954 vol 523 cc982-3
15. Mr. G. M. Thomson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he is taking to increase the number of hygienic insulated vans for the transport of meat in Scotland

Commander Galbraith: My right hon. Friend has no power to enforce a greater use of insulated vehicles in meat transport. He is, however, considering with the Minister of Food regulations to improve generally the hygienic standards of meat transport.

Mr. Thomson

Could the Minister say whether his Department has made any representations on this subject to the licensing tribunal?

Commander Galbraith

That is a matter for the Minister of Transport. Perhaps the hon. Member would put down a Question on the Order Paper.
