§ 42. Mr. Fenner Brockwayasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs how the British delegate on the Political Committee of the United Nations voted during the discussion on Moroccan integrity and sovereignty.
§ Lord John HopeThe United Kingdom representative voted against the draft resolution, which recommended that further consideration of the item be postponed for the time being.
§ Mr. BrockwayWill the hon. Gentleman suggest to the Foreign Secretary that he should look in a new way at issues arising between Colonies and the United Nations, in view of the fact that when the principle of non-intervention was accepted the colonial issue had not reached the dynamic stage which it has now reached in the changing pattern of world affairs?
§ Lord John HopeThe answer is that this vote took place strictly under the rules of the United Nations. It is for that organisation to change its rules, and not for my right hon. Friend to do so.
