HC Deb 06 December 1954 vol 535 c606
Mr. Dugdale

On a point of order. I have on the Order Paper, Mr. Speaker, a Question asking the First Lord of the Admiralty to make a statement on the results of the conversations between his officials and those of the South African Government on the future of the naval base at Simonstown. In view of the fact that statements have appeared in the Press that it is the intention of Her Majesty's Government to give up exclusive control of the base, might the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty have an opportunity to answer my Question so that the general unrest may be allayed?

Mr. Speaker

The time has, unfortunately, elapsed for Questions. The right hon. Gentleman will get a Written reply, and if he desires further information, I have no doubt that he will put down another Question.
