HC Deb 27 April 1954 vol 526 c1452
21. Major Anstruther-Gray

asked the Minister of Works how many applications for assistance have been made to the Historic Buildings Council for Scotland; and how many of these have been granted.

The Minister of Works (Sir David Eccles)

The Historic Buildings Council for Scotland has received 43 applications, and so far I have approved 12 grants.

Major Anstruther-Gray

May we take it that where applications have not been granted refusal is not necessarily final and the case may be open to reconsideration in view of the fact that many of these houses are very worthy of preservation?

Sir D. Eccles

There are 17 cases still under consideration. The others have been refused on what I believe to be good grounds.
