§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterFigures are not available for financial years but in the calendar year 1950 the number recruited to the permanent non-industrial Civil Service was 46,304; in 1951, 53,232; in 1952, 33,250; and in 1953 it is estimated to have been 25,950.
