HC Deb 05 April 1954 vol 526 cc33-4
57. Mr. A. Henderson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what representations have been received from the United States Government proposing a co-ordinated system of defence in South-East Asia.

Mr. Selwyn Lloyd

None, Sir.

Mr. Henderson

Has the attention of the Minister been drawn to the recent statement by President Eisenhower that it was the policy of the United States Government to seek united action in South-East Asia? In view of the anxiety which both President Eisenhower and Mr. Dulles have expressed in relation to recent developments in that part of the world, can the right hon. and learned Gentleman say whether there has been any increased intervention on the part of the Communist Government of China since the conclusion of the armistice in Korea?

Mr. Lloyd

The right hon. and learned Gentleman's Question dealt with representations from the United States Government proposing a co-ordinated system of defence in South-East Asia, and that I have answered.
