§ 14. Mr. Haleasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will report on the recent air survey of British Guiana by commercial contract; and whether it included a geophysical survey.
§ Mr. LytteltonAbout 7,000 square miles of British Guiana have been photographed. It is hoped to complete further areas before the season ends. During the worst weather in British Guiana, other Caribbean Colonies have been photographed under the same contract. No geophysical survey was included in this contract.
§ Mr. HaleIt is a purely geographical survey. Why is there not a geophysical survey in view of the possibility of doing it by air?
§ Mr. LytteltonI can only go on personal knowledge of these matters. The usual procedure is to go in for the geographical, photographic survey and then select areas for a geophysical survey when the location of minerals can be carried out by magnetic means.
