7. Mr. Donnelly

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will introduce an amendment to Section 2 of the Landlord and Tenant Act, 1949, in order to make it possible for those with long leases and where the rent is under the full rateable value to re-sell their houses.

Mr. H. Macmillan

This raises difficult problems. I can as yet make no definite statement as to what can or cannot be done towards their solution.

Can the Minister give any idea when he may be able to make a statement, because this is a most serious problem for all concerned?

Mr. Macmillan

I know it is, and I know the hon. Gentleman's interest in the matter. I fear not this Session.
