HC Deb 30 November 1953 vol 521 cc763-4
48. Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Supply if, when drafting the Bill setting up the atomic energy corporation, he will make full provision for the medical interests.

The Minister of Supply (Mr. Duncan Sandys)

If my hon. Friend would be good enough to let me know more precisely the points he has in mind I will bring them to the notice of my noble Friend the Lord President of the Council, so that he can take them into account in framing the forthcoming legislation.

Sir W. Smithers

In thanking my right hon. Friend for that reply, may I ask whether he remembers the inspiring speeches that he and I heard last Friday night? All that I ask him to do is to make the result of his research available to the medical profession as well as to the defence services.

Mr. H. Morrison

What were the inspiring speeches last Friday night? By whom were they delivered?

Mr. Sandys

I am glad that the speeches, one of which was made by myself, inspired my hon. Friend.
