HC Deb 23 November 1953 vol 521 cc20-1
37. Mr. Palmer

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what provision he proposes to make for those present members of the technical staff of his Department's Fuel Advisory Service who apply for appointments with the new Fuel Advisory Company but are not accepted.

Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

It is hoped that most of the existing staff will be offered appointments with the new company. Those who apply but are not accepted will be considered, according to their qualifications, for reallocation to other Government Departments.

Mr. Palmer

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the whole of the staff have been left in a complete state of uncertainty as to their future? Is not this once again evidence of the folly of breaking up this well-established Government service?
