HC Deb 19 November 1953 vol 520 cc1899-900
44. Mr. Wyatt

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the amount spent on official trips abroad by Ministers and junior Ministers during the recent Recess; and the amount spent on similar trips in the equivalent recess of 1950.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

About £16,000 in 1953 and £25,000 in 1950. In both years, rather more than half is for accompanying officials.

Mr. Snow

Can the Minister say whether this covers the cost of sending to Kenya, during the Summer Recess, the hon. Member for Stafford and Stone (Mr. H. Fraser), who appears to have gone in a quasi-Ministerial capacity?

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I cannot answer, without notice, Questions about individual items, but if the hon. Gentleman will agree to put that Question down to the appropriate Minister no doubt an appropriate answer will be given.
