§ 26. Mr. Ian Harveyasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation why he decided not to allow the appeal by G. & K. Barnes to operate an omnibus service from Lyneham to London in view of the fact that they had previously run this service for a considerable time and that a satisfactory alternative service is not now being provided.
§ Mr. MolsonAs my right hon. Friend said in his letter of 31st August to the parties, all the facts and circumstances of the case were carefully considered, together with all the representations made by the parties at the inquiry into the appeal, before he decided to accept the Inspector's recommendation. His conclusion was that it was not necessary or desirable in the public interest to grant the licence having regard to the alternative facilities already available to meet the needs of the airmen.
§ Mr. HarveyIs my hon. Friend aware that there is a suggestion in this decision that the interests of a nationalised industry were placed before that of the user, and will he in future bring an element of Tory reform to bear on his Department's policy in these matters?
