§ 15. Mr. R. Harrisasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation when it is intended to introduce legislation to implement the provisions of the Convention on Damage caused by Foreign Aircraft to Third Parties, thus making it compulsory for aircraft owners to insure against such liability.
§ The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation (Mr. John Profumo)This is under consideration, but legislation is not likely to be practicable this Session.
§ Mr. HarrisWill my hon. Friend note that that information will be received with some disappointment, at any rate by the local authorities surrounding London Airport, who are very worried about what might happen if a disaster occurred? Will he please do his best to try to get the legislation brought into this Session?
§ Mr. ProfumoI can assure my hon. Friend that the United Kingdom intends to make insurance compulsory for all aircraft flying over United Kingdom territory.
