§ 52. Mr. Gowerasked the Minister of Fuel and Power what steps he will take to ensure that the future development of the provision of electricity in Wales shall be on a scale comparable with its provision in England and other parts of the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Geoffrey LloydI am informed that this is indeed the intention of the electricity boards.
§ Mr. GowerWhile I thank the Minister for that assurance, may I ask him whether he is aware that there is some disappointment in Wales that the progress with rural electricity has been on a rather lower scale than in many other areas of the Electricity Board? Can he say whether there is reason to anticipate a better performance in the future?
§ Mr. LloydMy hon. Friend may be aware that the British Electricity Authority have improved the main transmission lines. We hope that that will provide a better performance, which, indeed, is already being given.
