HC Deb 12 November 1953 vol 520 cc1141-2
45. Mr. Warbey

asked the Prime Minister whether he will indicate the nature of the subjects he is proposing to be discussed at the conference of heads of principal States, including the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

The Prime Minister (Sir Winston Churchill)

I have at the present time nothing to add to the statement regarding the decision to hold a three-Power Conference at Bermuda which I made in the House on Tuesday in reply to questions by the hon. Member for West Ham, North (Mr. Lewis).

Mr. Warbey

While appreciating the right hon. Gentleman's peculiar difficulty today in making a statement about his intentions, might I ask him to co-ordinate his policy in this matter with the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs who, last week in this House, poured cold water on those who spoke about four-Power talks, and suggested that the only possible topics for such a conference would be Germany and Korea, and that other arrangements were already in train for those subjects?

The Prime Minister

I do not think that I could be expected to give an answer on that point now.
