HC Deb 12 November 1953 vol 520 c1132
31. Mr. Willey

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will now make a statement about the use of the Sunderland Trading Estates Factory at present occupied by Messrs. Prices, Tailors, Limited.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

As I informed the hon. Member in reply to his Question on 22nd October, the Board of Trade are giving Messrs. Prices, Tailors, Limited, every assistance in their task of finding a firm to take over the factory from them. I have nothing to add to that statement.

Mr. Willey

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware in view of the fact that the date for Prices clearing out of this factory is very near now, that there is a great deal of anxiety because nothing has been done about this factory? It will be a disaster if the factory is unused.

Mr. Thorneycroft

I appreciate the hon. Gentleman's very proper anxiety about this case. Prices are doing everything they can to find a successor and we are doing all that we can to help them.
