HC Deb 10 November 1953 vol 520 cc751-2
11. Mr. Ellis Smith

asked the Minister of Labour if the Chief Inspector of Factories has now completed his investigations into the use and effects of fibre glass and other synthetic materials used in increasing amounts in aircraft production and general engineering; what are the up-to-date results of the investigation; and what action is to be taken.

Mr. Watkinson

Microscopic examination of samples of the materials in question, about which my right hon. and learned Friend informed the hon. Member in reply to a previous Question on 7th May last, proved inconclusive and it has been found necessary to take systematic air and dust samples in factories where these and similar substances are being used. I will communicate with the hon. Member as soon as I am in a position to make a considered statement.
