HC Deb 18 May 1953 vol 515 c1683
38. Brigadier Peto

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that the plan for the reconstruction of the roads and bridges through Lynmouth is still awaiting his approval, and that this delay will cause distress and loss of trade; and whether he will make an early decision in this matter.

Mr. Braithwaite

The reconstruction of roads and bridges forms part of the more comprehensive plans for the restoration of this area. Perhaps my hon. and gallant Friend would await an answer from my right hon. Friend the Minister of Housing and Local Government to the wider Question on this subject, which he has down for tomorrow.

Brigadier Peto

Does it mean that the Ministry of Transport has no responsibility in the matter or that it has passed on the baby to other Ministries?

Mr. Braithwaite

Perhaps my hon. and gallant Friend will await the reply to which I have referred.
