HC Deb 13 May 1953 vol 515 c1235
18. Commander Scott-Miller

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General what extra expense and staff would be involved in providing Anmer village sub-post office with money order facilities.

Mr. Gammans

About £6 a year, assuming that the number of transactions was small.

Commander Scott-Miller

Will my hon. Friend reconsider his decision not to extend these facilities to this post office, particularly in view of the fact that I have forwarded to him a petition from the majority of the parishioners who are most desirous of having this facility?

Mr. Gammans

I will certainly do that. But I must point out to my hon. and gallant Friend that if we extended these facilities to all villages of this size—and it would be difficult to refuse to do so— it would cost £150, 000 to £200, 000 per year.
