HC Deb 07 May 1953 vol 515 c556
27. Dr. Jeger

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that doctors in the National Health Service are still being threatened with surcharge after prescribing cod liver oil and malt for tuberculous patients; what steps he took to prevent this in accordance with his undertaking when this question was last put to him; and what further steps he proposes to take to prevent this kind of intimidation.

Miss Hornsby-Smith

Executive Councils were reminded in July last of the recommendations of the expert sub-committee which advised on the circumstances in which borderline preparations should be regarded as drugs or as foods. My right hon. Friend does not think any further general action is necessary, but if the hon. Member has any particular cases in mind I will look into them.
