HC Deb 05 May 1953 vol 515 c204
49. Mr. Philips Price

asked the Minister of Works why the Post Office building in Cinderford, Gloucestershire, cannot be decorated for the Coronation; and whether he will issue instructions that flags and bunting may be used on this occasion.

Mr. Eccles

The Government have decided to concentrate their expenditure on decorations on the route of the Coronation Procession where decorations will be seen to the best advantage. Outside London there will be some decoration of the more important Government buildings in connection with Her Majesty's visits, but I regret that the money available will not allow all Government buildings to be decorated even where local schemes of decoration have been arranged, such as at Cinderford.
