asked the Minister of Labour the figures of persons employed in Scotland in 1952 on work connected with re-armament.

Mr. Watkinson

It is estimated that at the end of 1952 some 70,000 persons were employed directly and indirectly on defence work, including research and development, in the manufacturing industries in Scotland.
