§ 43. Mr. Peter Freemanasked the President of the Board of Trade the number and species of all animals and birds imported from India during 1952; and the purpose for which they were imported.
§ Mr. P. ThorneycroftThe total value of animals, including birds and fishes, imported from India in 1952 was £22,339. No animals were recorded as being imported for food or for breeding, and there were no imports of horses or greyhounds; but the total includes 1,750 other quadrupeds valued at £7,845. I regret that I have no further particulars of these imports or of the purpose for which they were made.
§ Mr. FreemanWould the right hon. Gentleman say whether these figures include those for Pakistan and Ceylon, and if not, could I have that information?
§ Mr. ThorneycroftPerhaps the hon. Gentleman will put that down.
