ThomasSixty-three per cent. of officers are serving ashore and 37 per cent. afloat: the corresponding figures for ratings and Royal Marines are 52 per cent. and 48 per cent. respectively. In aggregate, the proportion ashore is 53 per cent., which includes some 10 per cent. engaged on naval aviation duties ashore and about 20 per cent. under training or employed in training establishments ashore.
