asked the Minister of Food whether he now intends to allow the production of branded margarine; and if he will make a statement.

I cannot add to the reply I gave to the hon. Member on 27th January.

Mr. Willey

Is the Minister aware that, whilst there is a good deal to be said for encouraging the improved quality of margarine, we do not want him to use this as a smoke-screen in removing the subsidy and putting up the price.

I do not use a smoke-screen as a rule.
