asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department to make a statement on the progress of plans for the production of a new type of respirator for the protection of the public against chemical warfare.

In accordance with plans made by the last Government, the production of a new type of respirator is about to begin. The new respirators are of an improved type and it is proposed to arrange fitting trials in various parts of the country in order to determine the proportions in which the various sizes will be needed.
