HC Deb 30 June 1953 vol 517 c189
25. Lord Malcolm Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has now given further consideration to the Inverness County Council resolution concerning the electrification of Highland railways.

Mr. J. Stuart

I have nothing to add to the answer given by my hon. Friend the Joint Under-Secretary of State on 16th June.

Lord Malcolm Douglas-Hamilton

In view of the answers which my right hon. Friend gave to the Questions about hydro-electricity, will he give every possible support to this suggestion?

Mr. Stuart

I would rather consider the matter before giving it my support. I have not yet received the resolution referred to and, not being an expert like the hon. Member for Kidderminster (Mr. Nabarro), I am not sure about the question of electrical supply.
