HC Deb 29 June 1953 vol 517 cc3-4
3. Mr. A. Henderson

asked the Minister of Supply whether he will make a statement on the steps being taken by Her Majesty's Government to develop new types of radar equipment, in view of the existence of jet planes able to fly at supersonic speeds or at near supersonic speeds.

Mr. Sandys

The advent of jet aircraft, with their higher speeds, altitude and rate of acceleration has necessitated considerable changes in radar and other equipment A considerable range of both airborne and ground equipment to meet these more exacting specifications is either already in production or in an advanced stage of development.

Mr. Henderson

Is there any exchange of information on this development with the United States Government?

Mr. Sandys

Quite a lot.
