HC Deb 24 June 1953 vol 516 c1874
2. Mr. H. Hynd

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what is the extent of British participation in the Green Pool which was discussed at a meeting of European Ministers of Agriculture in March last; and what progress has been made in setting up this organisation.

Mr. Selwyn Lloyd

The Ministerial Conference held last March set up an Interim Committee, composed of representatives of European Governments, including Her Majesty's Government, which is to put forward proposals, by 31st October, for the organisation and unification of agricultural markets. A further Ministerial Conference will then be held to discuss these proposals.

Mr. Hynd

May we take it that the Government are watching this sympathetically?

Mr. Lloyd

We are watching it carefully. We must wait and see what the proposals are.
