HC Deb 16 June 1953 vol 516 c722
36. Mr. Grimond

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what answer he intends to send to the Shetland Trade Names Committee in response to representations made last autumn on the subject of Shetland wool.

Mr. Henderson Stewart

My right hon. Friend is considering the comments made by the Trade Names Committee and by the other bodies whom he has consulted on the Report on this matter made by the Advisory Panel on the Highlands and Islands, and he hopes to write to the Committee shortly.

Mr. Grimond

Will the hon. Gentleman bear in mind that these representations were made last autumn and the Trade Names Committee would be most grateful if the answer could be hastened?

Mr. Stewart

I think that the hon. Gentleman is a little wrong. The secretary of the Trade Names Committee has confirmed to us that no representations were made last autumn about Shetland wool, but I do not want to argue that rather small point.
