§ 36. Mr. Emrys Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland the reasons that five farms, with approximately 300 dairy cattle, at Guiltreehill, Farden-william, Ballycoach, Carrington and Commonhead, in the Maybole district of South Ayrshire, have an insufficient water supply; and what steps he is taking to deal with the matter.
§ Mr. J. StuartThese are private water supplies and the question of sufficiency is primarily one for the owners or occupiers. The County Council, propose, however, to introduce a public water supply for the area and I am prepared to authorise a start with the work as soon as the necessary pipes can be obtained.
§ Mr. HughesDoes this answer mean that there will be no economy coming into consideration of the matter?
§ Mr. StuartThe maintenance of an efficient supply is necessary and we shall do our best to provide it as soon as possible.
