HC Deb 27 July 1953 vol 518 c886
46. Mr. Spence

asked the Minister of Food what percentage of Scottish beef has been included in the meat ration in Aberdeenshire during the past six months.

Major Lloyd George

Approximately 57 per cent.

Mr. Spence

Can the Minister say how this compares with the percentage over the country as a whole?

Major Lloyd George

On the whole, I should say that it is rather better.

Mr. Hector Hughes

If this ridiculously small percentage is due to the inadequate and expensive transport from Aberdeen to the South, will the right hon. and gallant Gentleman get in touch with the Minister of Transport with a view to rectifying the situation?

Major Lloyd George

As a matter of fact, the percentage over the country as a whole is rather good. Aberdeen happens to be doing rather better.
