§ 52. Mr. Gowerasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what steps he will take to accelerate the provision of piped water supplies to the rural areas of Wales and Monmouthshire.
§ Mr. MarplesEvery effort is being made to provide piped water supplies in these areas as rapidly as resources permit. The value of schemes authorised in the year ended 31st March, 1953, was £1,272,000 compared with £564,000 in the preceding year.
§ Mr. GowerWhile thanking my hon. Friend for that reply, may I ask him to bear in mind that this is one of the amenities which are needed to prevent the progressive de-population of those areas?
