asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will make a statement on the progress of the Anglo-Brazilian talks before the House rises for the Summer Recess.

I am now awaiting the full text of the reply which the Brazilian Government have just made to the proposals which Her Majesty's Government made to them. I shall report to the House in the course of the next week on the stage now reached in our negotiations with Brazil.
