HC Deb 20 July 1953 vol 518 c24
34. Mr. Janner

asked the Minister of Food why, in view of the more plentiful supply of meat, there is no improvement in the supply to housewives of offal and lard.

Major Lloyd George

There has been some slight increase in the home supply of offals, but we were not able to increase our imports. Moreover, many butchers are reluctant to accept their full allocation of imported offals. For lard we are mainly dependent on the United States supplies and I fear that we must still restrict our dollar expenditure.
