HC Deb 20 July 1953 vol 518 cc23-4
30. Sir I. Fraser

asked the Minister of Food whether he can indicate the level of the meat ration for the remainder of this year.

The Minister of Food (Major Lloyd George)

I hope that we shall be able to keep up the present ration level for several months.

Sir I. Fraser

Will my right hon. and gallant Friend bear in mind that the ability to buy more meat encourages harder work and also strengthens a man to do it?

Lieut.-Colonel Lipton

Is the Minister aware that people with money can buy as much rationed meat as they like out of supplies which are available from the rations not being taken up by large numbers of other people?
