HC Deb 20 July 1953 vol 518 c21
24. Colonel Gomme-Duncan

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what negotiations have taken place, or are now in progress, regarding the recruiting of Gurkhas for the British Army.

Mr. Nutting

I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the Written answer I gave on 14th July to my hon. Friend the Member for Hertfordshire, South-West (Mr. G. Longden).

Colonel Gomme-Duncan

Can my hon. Friend assure me that there has been no difficulty on the part of the third Power in this matter?

Mr. Nutting

Yes, Sir. On the contrary, the third Power concerned has been most helpful in securing this arrangement between Her Majesty's Government and the Government of Nepal.
