HC Deb 09 July 1953 vol 517 c1479
38. Brigadier Medlicott

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will now state when he anticipates receiving the report of the Royal Commission on Capital Punishment.

34. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when the Royal Commission on Capital Punishment was appointed; when he estimates that its report will be made; and when it will be available to the House.

Sir H. Lucas-Tooth

The Royal Commission was appointed in May, 1949. As I stated in reply to Questions on 2nd July, my right hon. and learned Friend is informed that he may expect to receive the report of the Commission before the end of this month, and it will be presented to Parliament and published as soon as possible thereafter.
