HC Deb 09 July 1953 vol 517 cc1462-3
12. Lieut.-Commander Baldock

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will introduce legislation to protect agricultural tenants against harassing actions by companies who attempt to obtain vacant possession of farms that they have bought with the object of resale at a profit, since this kind of action can only result in a reduction in the country's food supplies.

Sir T. Dugdale

I shall certainly be prepared to consider this the next time there is legislation to amend the Agricultural Holdings Act, 1948.

Lieut.-Commander Baldock

While thanking my right hon. Friend for his reply, may I ask if his attention has been drawn to a particularly bad case, that of Mr. Clarke, of Theddingworth, who has been the victim of litigation, obstruction and of being spied on through field glasses?

Sir T. Dugdale

Yes, I have had my attention drawn to this particular case and I am watching developments.
