asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will now make a statement concerning the inquiry which his Department is conducting in Yorkshire into the incidence of fowl typhoid.

This inquiry is being conducted by members of my veterinary staff. The main objects are to obtain more information about the behaviour and control of this disease in the field and to investigate further the use of vaccination as a preventive measure. The inquiry is still going on. A new vaccine is being used experimentally on selected flocks, but it will be some time before results can be assessed.
