HC Deb 01 July 1953 vol 517 c403
60. Mr. Willey

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether, in view of the loss of time in obtaining medical assistance following recent accidents and the grave public inconvenience caused by their absence, he will ensure the immediate installation of public telephones on the Red House Estate, Sunderland.

Mr. Gammans

I expect that one kiosk on the estate will be available to the public about the 10th July.

Mr. Willey

Is the Minister aware that his reply will bring great satisfaction to this estate? Will he try to improve the co-operation between his Department and local authorities so that telephones can be provided expeditiously on housing estates?

Mr. Gammans

The difficulty was the main cable. This has now been finished and that is the reason why we have been able to supply this estate with a kiosk.
